石器時代の昔から人類は石臼を使って穀物、木の実、根菜などを粉挽きしていました。「日本書紀」によると、日本に回転式の石臼が伝来したのは、７世紀と言われています。 若い頃、石の彫刻を作っていました。そのこともあって、 石工の古代からの技術を今に伝える石臼に特別な魅力を感じています。

Since the Stone Age, humans have been using millstones to grind grains, nuts, and roots into flour. According to the "Chronicles of Japan," the first millstone was introduced to Japan in the 7th century. When I was young, I used to make stone sculptures. That is part of the reason I have a special fascination for millstones, which have been used since ancient times by stonemasons. 

現代では主にそばや小麦を引く道具として使われている石臼ですが、挽くものによって溝のパターンを変え、 コーヒー用、抹茶用など幅広い用途に合った石臼を作って販売しています。

Today, millstones are mainly used to grind buckwheat and wheat, but we also make and sell millstones with different groove patterns for different uses, such as for coffee and matcha.
